Here is a long textual sermon - Jn. 7:1-31 I chose not to drag this chapter out there is quite a bit of good material in this chapter but I felt too much labor is just too much labor. It is good and muggy here in Kville. Getting some much needed rain. Take care - Kirk Judging Christ John 7:24 I. Introduction A. Short synopsis on the principle of judging. 1. Jesus taught in the great sermon, “Judge not that ye be not judged, for what judgment you measure out, it will be measured to you again” (Matt. 7:1ff). 2. James in his discussion about church members being partial among themselves said, “Speak not evil one of another brethren....Who art thou that judges another?” (Jas. 4:11, 12). 3. So it seems that it is a direct violation to judge anything another does. 4. On the other hand the inspired Book also teaches: a. “Test the spirits whether they be of God” (1 Jn. 4:1). b. And did not Jesus himself tell us to be fruit inspectors (Matt. 7:16)? c. Or how can the church exercise th...

"GIVING THANKS FOR THE WORK BEGUN"

It has been a good day today. The weather is quite comfortable (low 70's) with overcast skies. Hope you enjoy!~Kirk "GIVING THANKS FOR THE WORK BEGUN" Phil. 1:3-6 Thanks to Sidney White for the ideas found in the article on “Thanks” as found in, CHRISTIAN MESSENGER, March 24, 2005 bulletin of Algood church of Christ. Just as Ironside was about to begin his meal, a man approached and asked if he could join him. Ironside invited him to have a seat. Then, as was his custom, Ironside bowed his head in prayer. When he opened his eyes, the other man asked, "Do you have a headache?" Ironside replied, "No, I don't." The other man asked, "Well, is there something wrong with y...

Rejection & Acceptance

After reading the text here in John, A question arose in my mind, "How do people go through the process of rejecting or accepting?" Thus the thrust of this lesson. Sermon for mother's day

The four main point are under: "IV. Things Your Mother Wants You To Know" A. She wants you to know why she disciplines you B. She wants you to know why she nags at you C. She wants you to know why she embarrasses you with hugs and kisses in front of your friends D. She wants you to know why she takes you to church. I tried to think like a woman on this one. I like biblical portraits of good mothers and bad mothers but I have enough of those in stock right now so I reinvented myself........Hiii Yaa'lllll! Make it happen! I Am The Bread of Life

Rain, rain, go away..... Been messy around the mountains this week. Went up the the beautiful Cades Cove and enjoyed its surroundings. All the family is well. Hope you all are also. - kirk welcome new contacts. use this material in a way that is acceptable to God. Jn. 6:35 I. Introduction A. One of the most amazing of the "I am" claims of the Lord Jesus Christ is found in John 6:35: B. There may be more here than meets the literal eye, in light of the often ignored truth that Jesus Christ is both our Creator and Sustainer. 1. Remember Colossians 1:16-17, which reminds us that "by [Christ] were all things created, . . . And He is before all things, and by Him all things consist." C. Kevin Cauley identifies 24 pictures in which Jesus tells us who he is in John 6: I will identify 12 for you. 1) He is the one who gives the meat that leads to eternal life (v.27). 2) He is the one whom God, the Father, has sealed (v.27). - Authenticated as a king does a document. 3) He is...

Jesus Walks Upon the Water

Mark 6:45-52; Matt. 14:22-33; Jn. 6:16-21 I. Introduction There is a joke told about 3 preachers who went fishing. While in the middle of the lake, the Methodist preacher stood up and exclaimed, "The Lord just told me to walk on the water" after which he stepped out of the boat and took several steps out into the deep and then returned. Being impressed with such a feat a few moments later the Baptist preacher stood up and said, "The Lord just told me to step out on faith and walk on the water." Doing in like manner what the Methodist preacher did. No longer than the Baptist preacher returned to the boat the church of Christ preacher got up and said, "If y'all can do it I can too," after which he stepped out made a terrible splash and immediately started crying for help. Having been rescued by the other two preachers, shivering the wet preacher asked his friends, "How in the world did y'all do that?" Upon which they replied, "Well wit...
